Bush Bashing in Zee Zee Merino

Hey there people, Thought I would share a wee pic from the weekend. My husband James and I went for our first bushwalk with our kids Millie 3 and Rodie 18months. As you can see, they are suitably attired for dodgy bush weather, in their Zee Zee Merino. The strength and resilience of my children continues to astound me. After walking uphill for over an hour, asking Mils a few times on the way whether she was tired, I ask her again "Are you getting tired yet hun?" Millie responds "Um, yes Mummy, OK I think I am." I am certain that if I hadn't asked she would have powered on up the millionth step, but secretly my thighs were killing me and I was completely out of breath, so it was as good an excuse as I could find to start out retreat back down the ranges. We had a blast anyway, and I would thoroughly recommend taking your kids for a wee outing to your closest bush walkway and see how they go. They are bound to surprise you, we seemed far more exhausted than they did. Their Zee Zee Merino got a great outing and got tested with heat, the odd drizzle of rain and the elements of the bush, and held up a treat, the kids were the perfect temperature throughout the entire trek.

Well better dash...need to do some stretches before bed!

Training Day for our first consultants

Well I have been a little slack on my blogging lately but, just couldn't wait to let you all know about our amazing training day we had over the weekend!

As you will all know, we are launching "Zee Zee Merino Musters" in 2012. They will be based on a party plan style of selling our gorgeous merino. These will give customers the chance to touch and feel our product, and hear about the amazing properties and advantages of our merino, all in a great social atmosphere with their friends. So we are on the hunt for wonderful consultants to help us run parties and just have a great time! We had our first training day with an amazing bunch of ladies who are officially our first consultants for Zee Zee Merino. We had a great time, with a lot of talk, a lot of amazing food, and heaps of fun. Warm weather loves merino!

Well the weather is slowly beginning to warm up, but don't let that be a deterent for dressing your gorgeous children in merino. It helps wick moisture away from the skin, helping regulate body temperature and keep the wearer warmer in winter but also cooler in summer! Lambs around here....

We have a new friend at our house. His name is Scooby Doo. Scooby Doo is Jacob's lamb who he will take to our local Calf Club day being held at school in a couple of weeks. Edie is the committed feeder of Scooby Doo during the day while Jacob is at school. Here she is looking gorgeous. He is the first boy lamb we've had as a pet and I must say he is a bit different.... however we are thrilled that he is focused on grass rather than plants when in the garden. Yesterday our friends from town brought their pet lamb 'Sir Lambalot'(think knights) out to play. Sadly Scooby Doo was a little territorial and they had to be separated! Once the lambs were parted though lots of fun was had by all. xx

World Cup and Vege Patch

What a busy week again. Preparing for our World Cup stall in Hamilton this Friday and The Zee Zee Merino will be at both Hamilton games this weekend in full force. Go the All Blacks!

The weather did look as though it was becoming more springlike, but alas today the hurricane force winds and rain have set it. Happy Kids in their Zee Zee Tees!!

I was blessed the other morning by a phone call from Te Whanau Putahi. They were ringing to tell us about the impact the Zee Zee Tees we donated had on the children in their programme.

On the last week of their school holiday programme they had a special trip to Waingaro Hot Springs for the children to enjoy. As a surprise they brought out the Zee Zee Tees we had donated to them for the children. Each child got two new Zee Zee Tees and they were thrilled to have something so awesome and brand new given to them. They put them on and all wore them home on the bus. One mother reported having to peel it off her child against his will (4 days later) to get it into the wash.

What a joy for us to hear this story. What an amazing way to get rid of a bit of excess stock. We recommend it!!!

Yesterday Amy and I went to our local market which we attend once a month. It was freezing cold and pretty stormy but still lots of fun. Even so there were still lots of people braving the weather for a good morning out. It was wonderful weather to share the benefits of our gorgeous Zee Zee Merino Tees with people!!

Such a big day I almost forgot to mention that our latest Little Zee Merino long sleeve tees have arrived and will be online very shortly. They are sooooooooo gorgeous, and yes the extremely popular Little Zee Merino Huhu grub has been given another outing. Giving to our local Foodbank....

Our most recent donation has been given to the Combined Hamilton Christian Foodbank. These guys provide an amazing service to the Hamilton community. They provide food to people who need it and are also a great support and contact place for those who also need other help too. We have heard that they are extra busy at the moment and thought it would be a great place to send some money to.

Foodbanks everywhere are always very grateful to receive donations of food or money. You may have noticed the foodbank donation area at your local supermarket. A simple and easy way you can contribute is to pick up a little something extra in your shopping to put in the donation area. This little act really does make a big difference and really is appreciated!

Zee Zee Tees for kids care programme.......

We recently had great pleasure in putting together some gorgeous Zee Zee Tees and singlets to give to the children of Te Whanau Putahi (family centre) in Hamilton. They have an awesome kids programme which cares for children outside of school hours ensuring the children in their community are safe and well looked after. They provide the community with a toy library, a youth drop-in centre, kids club, Respite Care Childcare Centre, literacy programmes, counsellors, craft mornings, and they are part of the Hamilton Combined Christian Foodbank.

Hut building & afternoon tea...

Here are some photos of Millie, Edie and Jacob on their afternoon tea break(in a hut of course). An outside one too, much to my pleasure. Thank you sun. It was still chilly but I can assure you they are all wearing their Zee Zee Merino Tees underneath so are warm as toast!! www.zeezeemerino.co.nz

I really want to encourage parents everywhere to assist your children in creating their own little hut worlds. It is awesome and can often lead to some peace to yourself as they play. A little note: A hut rule of key importance at our house is to always involve food being eaten at some stage in the hut!!

My mum recently found a favourite book I had as a child. It is called 'Sally's Secret' by Shirley Hughes. It is all about hut building, and the children and I have loved reading it together. It always sets off a new round of hut building. I'm not sure if it is still in print but worth looking for if you are interested.

My children seem to be in a hut building frenzy at the moment and I'm loving it. Everywhere I turn in our house there are huts/houses/sheds and it brings me complete delight. Yes it is messy and crazy but I think it takes me back to my childhood. For this reason I seem to let the huts stay set up for quite a bit longer......don't get me started on their furnishings when we do eventually tidy them up!
When Amy and Millie(18 months) arrived for our team meeting on Friday, Millie immediately launched herself into hut making paradise, diving on cushions with her cousins Edie(2) and Jacob(5). It was so cute and a great reminder of how blessed we are doing this business from our homes with little children in the midst of it.

The big dream for us at Zee Zee Merino Clothing is for so many children in the world to be warm and toasty in Zee Zee Merino that we have oodles of money to give to the people who need it. Right from the start we have committed 10% of our monthly profits to charity. We see this blog as being an awesome place to tell you about the people who receive our donations and how they are made use of. It is also a place for our customers to see who they are helping through purchasing Zee Zee Merino.

We also hope that this blog will raise the profile of some amazing groups of people in our communities who work tirelessly for awesome causes usually on a very limited budget. It would be fantastic if this blog could lead to other individuals, groups, businesses considering how they may be able to help charities in our communities. Donations would be awesome but we are very aware that this is not an option for everyone. Volunteers are also desperately needed out there these days so perhaps the gift of time might be a possibility.....maybe something to think about...
